Sukamade Tour: A Journey to the Home of Giant Sea Turtles

Discover the Hidden Paradise of Sukamade

Nestled within the pristine wilderness of Sukamade Beach, Sukamade is one of Indonesia’s most extraordinary eco-tourism destinations. Located inside Meru Betiri National Park, this remote beach is internationally renowned as a nesting ground for giant sea turtles. Every year, hundreds of turtles come ashore at night to lay their eggs, creating a rare and unforgettable wildlife experience.

Unlike typical beach destinations, Sukamade offers visitors an authentic adventure through tropical rainforests, rivers, plantations, and rugged landscapes before reaching the secluded coastline. The journey itself is part of the attraction, making Sukamade a perfect destination for nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, and adventure seekers.

Highlights of Sukamade Tour

  • Observe giant sea turtles nesting on the beach at night.
  • Participate in baby turtle (hatchling) releases.
  • Explore the rainforest of Meru Betiri National Park.
  • Experience off-road adventures through plantations and rivers.
  • Discover the rich biodiversity of East Java.
  • Enjoy a peaceful environment far from crowded tourist destinations.

Best Time to Visit

Sukamade can be visited throughout the year. However, the dry season from May to October offers better road conditions and a more comfortable travel experience. Turtle sightings are possible year-round, with green turtles being the most commonly observed species.
